Thank you for your interest in applying at Ethyraia! First, please make sure you've perused our FAQ and our RULES section. Applying in the game means you agree to abide by the rules thereof.
As a reminder:
☆ You may apply for two (2) characters per round.
☆ Reserves are not required to apply, but a reserve guarantees we review your application before anyone else's application for the same character. Two reserves may be made in a reserve period.
☆ Applications are screened.
☆ Please wait to submit your application until the 'Applications are CLOSED' comment disappears and the 'Applications are OPEN' comment appears.
We accept applications for the following character types:

Regarding the Application Process:
Please see the breakdown below for more information on what exactly we're looking for and what factors into an app that is accepted, given revision requests, or declined.
☆ If any two sections on the app do not meet our guidelines, we will request revisions. However, as personality and samples are considered to be the most important part of the app, failure to meet our standards in any one of these sections will result in revisions regardless of the suitability of the other sections.
☆ Applications may be declined outright if they demonstrate poor grammatical or technical skill throughout (a few typos are fine!), if they provide samples which lack engagement (e.g., hooks, yes-and), or if they reflect an insufficient grasp of the character in question.
☆ Revisions must be submitted within (48) hours of their request or the application will be automatically declined.

AGE: If no canon age is given, please use your best guess as supported by canon.
CANON: Please specify if there are multiple properties or installments under a single banner.
CANON POINT: Where are you pulling them from? Please don't just list episode/issue/chapter here, but instead write out a brief (one sentence) blurb contextualizing the canon point by referencing a single recent, major plot event.
BACKGROUND/HISTORY: Links will not be accepted for this section. Please write a 2-3 paragraph summary of a character's history. This should fall between 300-500 words.
PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: If your character is a CRAU, please give us an idea of any important changes your character has undergone in a brief detailing of how they have been affected by a previous game setting. This should fall between 300-500 words.
PERSONALITY: Describe your character's personality for us. Please include both strengths and flaws/weaknesses. If this section exceeds 500 words we will be asking for revisions, so please be succinct.
SUITABILITY: Please remember that the base theme of Ethyraia will be survivalism-based, and there will be many instances of danger and conflict. Character suitability and how you expect to approach that as a player is an integral part of your application.
ABILITIES/SKILLS: This section covers both superhuman abilities and trained skills a character may have. This section as written for Bruce Wayne should be almost as detailed as Clark Kent! We ask that you provide clear specific details, but not take more than 500 words in this section. A bulleted list is fine.
Note: There are no nerfs in Ethyraia; however, any powers that have the ability to impact the setting in ways that interfere with the survivalist themes have the potential to set off strange effects and can possibly become nerfed if used to disrupt the setting, so it is important that the mods be aware of your character's capability. (For more information, see the APPLICATIONS section of the FAQ.)
INVENTORY: You are allowed up to 5 items beyond your character's worn clothing. A uniform (such as a superhero's costume) would consist of one thing (example: Batgirl's suit + belt would be one item, however: her utility belt would not come with gadgets unless you were willing to use more slots for them!) You may also request a character's 'pet' for one inventory slot. Aang's flying bison would be allowed, but it would take up an 'item' slot!
Samples;
Samples make the most impact on the moderators' judgement — we will decline people on the grounds of writing weaknesses like insufficient hooks, little demonstration of scene movement and improv ("yes, and"), or an inability to properly portray the character's described personality.
One sample must be less than one year old (12 calendar months). The others can be older. Samples do not need to be set within Ethyraia's universe — memes and prior game threads are fine so long as one is within a year! We also allow AU samples as long as they still demonstrate the personality traits in your app. All we ask is that the character be recognizable as the version you intend to play — no alignment swap AUs please!
COMMUNICATION SAMPLE: Please link to a thread that shows how and what your character communicates. This can be a network sample or an in-person conversation. This thread must be of AC length — if log, at least five of your comments; if network, at least ten.
INTERIORITY SAMPLE: Please link to a thread that shows how your character thinks. This could be any thread with sufficient depth into their thoughts, interpretations, and decision-making. We are looking for samples that highlight their personality. This thread must be of AC length — if log, at least five of your comments; if network, at least ten.
CONFLICT SAMPLE: Please link to a thread that shows how your character handles conflict. This can be as simple as a disagreement between two characters, a thought process behind a tough decision that causes inner turmoil, or an action scene of some kind. This thread must be of AC length — if log, at least five of your comments; if network, at least ten. Please include a 1-2 sentence explanation of why your sample represents the theme if there is no overt argument happening in the scene.
