Characters can feel free to make private inboxes now, as person-to-person messaging is a built-in feature of the comms devices (complete with an auto-translator that you can toggle on and off, which we promise is more capable than Google Translate of our present day). The limitations of this private messaging is its person-to-person nature; the privacy features aren't available for larger groups. These private messages also still rely on the Adamant's intranet to send, however, so their security is akin to Whatsapp. Cybersecurity-minded characters might want to beef that up or figure out a way to filter the NPCs out of the broader intranet posts.
In short, private unencrypted person-to-person communication is up and running. It's collective private communication amongst PCs that will need development.
